Liu Bingzhong

Liu Bingzhong , or Liu Kan , was born in , . In 1233, he entered the Jin's bureaucracy. He still was an officer after the Mongols replaced the Jin, but later he became a monk. However his teacher thought that his talent should not be buried, so he recommended Liu Bingzhong to Kublai Khan, to become his adviser. During this period, he was extolled as the Five Talented in Xintai.

Liu Bingzhong and Yao Shu made a plan "to canvass all talented to give well-governorship suggestions". Many Confucianists, such as Xu Heng, Wang Xun, Zhang Yi, were attracted to provide ruse to Kublai Khan, who later became the founder of the Yuan Dynasty.

After the Battle of Fishing Town, M?ngke Khan died and Kublai Khan succeeded his post. Liu Bingzhong suggested to name the new dynasty as "Yuan" with reference to , which was adopted by Kublai Khan in 1271. He also suggested Kublai Khan to adopt the Chinese law, and removed some Mongolian misgovernment.

Kublai Khan recognized as the Capital of the Yuan, and renamed it to . Liu Bingzhong was appointed as the supervisor of the Capital Construction of Dadu. He also formulated the Time Service Calendar with Guo Shoujing. When he became the teacher of Zhenjin, who later became the Crown Prince , he set up the Zishan College in Wuon Mountain to teach Confucianism and Natural Science.

In 1274, he died in Nanbing Mountain Villa.

Li has served as the deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China Heilongjiang Provincial Committee since 2003. He was appointed as the acting governor of Heilongjiang in December 2007 following the resignation of former Heilongjiang governor, Zhang Zuoji.

Li Zhanshu was officially elected the Governor of Heilongjiang by the Heilongjiang People's Congress on January 27, 2008.

Biography

Early life

Li was born in Leting , Hebei province to a peasant family. From 1913 to 1917 Li studied political economy at Waseda University in Japan before returning to China s in 1918.

As head librarian at the Peking University Library, he was among the first of the Chinese intellectuals who supported the Bolshevik government in the Soviet Union. He also wrote in Chen's New Youth and his works had a major influence on other Chinese as well. Mao Zedong was an assistant librarian during Li's tenure at the library, and Li was one of Mao's earliest and most prominent influences. By many accounts, Li was a and believed that the peasantry in China were to play an important role in China's revolution. As with many intellectuals of his time, the roots of Li's revolutionary thinking were actually mostly in Kropotkin's communist anarchism, but after the events of the May Fourth Movement and the failures of the anarchistic experiments of many intellectuals, like his compatriots, he turned more towards Marxism. Of course, the success of the Bolshevik Revolution was a major factor in the changing of his views. In later years, Li combined both his original nationalist and newly acquired Marxist views in order to contribute a strong political view to China .

Under the leadership of Li and Chen, the CPC developed a close relationship with the Comintern. At the direction of the Comintern, Li and Chen were inducted into the Kuomintang in 1922. Li was elected to the KMT's Central Executive Committee in 1924.

Death

Tensions between the Comintern, the KMT, and the CPC presented opportunities for political intrigue and opportunism. With the outbreak of the Chinese Civil War, Li was captured during a raid on the Soviet embassy in Peking and, with nineteen others, he was executed on the orders of the warlord Zhang Zuolin on April 28, 1927.

Fu Kang'an ; ? - 1796) was born in Beijing and the third son of Fuheng, a grand minister of state during the middle years of Qianlong's reign. Fu held various eminent offices, including Governor-General, Viceroy of Liangjiang and Viceroy of Liangguang. It was rumoured that Fu was indeed an illegitimate son of Qianlong Emperor and the emperor entrusted his son to the then most eminent and powerful . Although the story has never been proved true, it is a fact that Fu was the emperor's most favoured general during his reign.

Feng Guozhang

Féng Guózhāng, a native of Hejian, Hebei. He was a Beiyang Army general and politician in early . He founded the Zhili clique of warlords.

Feng broke with Yuan Shikai when the latter attempted to . Yuan made Feng a Duke, but Feng declined this title. Yuan then sent an admiral to assassinate Feng but the admiral tipped him off and was himself murdered. Feng then moved to Nanjing where joined the . His name was prominently missing from the list of proposed successors in Yuan's will.

Feng then served as vice president under Li Yuanhong. During the occupation of Beijing by , Feng served as acting president, a position he kept when Li formally resigned. He was sworn president of the Republic of China on August 1 1917 but its constitutionality was challenged as the was not reconvened to recognize it. On August 14, China entered World War I on the side of the Allies after growing evidence of the German Empire's support for Zhang's coup was uncovered as well as intense lobbying by Premier Duan Qirui. He sent about 135,000 in labor battalions to the Western Front, Mesopotamia, and German East Africa. Troops were sent into Russia to assist the . Sun Yat-sen set up a rival government in Guangzhou during September 1917 and also declared war later that month in a failed attempt to get international recognition. Feng wanted to peacefully resolve the which led to Duan resigning in protest. Due to pressure from the Anhui clique, he brought Duan back into the premiership. Feng finished the five-year term started by Yuan in 1913 on October 10, 1918 and died in Beijing of illness.

Biography

Wang Zhaoguo was born in Fengrun, Hebei in 1941. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1965. He graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1966.

He served as the First Secretary of the Communist Youth League from 1982 to 1984, at which point he was of a higher position than both current President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao. He became Governor of Fujian from 1987 to 1990.

He was the Head of from 1992 to 2002. In 2003 he became the Vice-Chairman of standing committee of 10th National People's Congress, and was re-elected in 11th National People's Congress in 2008.. Sun Yue is a Chinese professional basketball player with the Los Angeles Lakers of the . He mainly plays the point guard position, but he can also play at the shooting guard and small forward positions. Beijing Aoshen controversy

Sun was at the center of a controversy between the former professional Chinese league team, the , and the Chinese Basketball Association . Sun was ordered to report for duty, but when Beijing refused to release him, the CBA banned Beijing from playing in the men's league. The owner of Aoshen subsequently moved the team to the , where they have played for three years.

Sun has continued to play with the Olympians, and was eventually allowed to play internationally with the Chinese national team, along with another Beijing player, Zhang Songtao. He has since played in the in Qatar, and in the 2006 FIBA World Championships, hosted by Japan. Sun was also selected to the Chinese national team for the .

He was elevated to vice secretary of CPC Jilin committee in May 2000. In September 2000, he was appointed as director and Party chief of General Administration of Press and Publication of the People's Republic of China and the director of National Copyright Administration of the People's Republic of China. In December 2005, he became the secretary of CPC Guizhou committee, and since January 2006, Shi has served as Party chief of Guizhou and the chairman of Guizhou people's congress.

Bishop Michael Fu Tieshan of Beijing was the top leader of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association.

Fu was born in Hebei province. He served as a priest, and in 1979 was made a bishop by Beijing. The appointment lacked the approval of the pope. He was appointed chairman of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association in 1998. He was acting president of the government-recognized Bishops' Conference of the Catholic Church in China. He was named vice chairman of the standing committee of the National People's Congress, China's legislature, in 2003.

Fu died in from lung cancer. His death was announced in Beijing by the Xinhua news agency.

Anthony Liu Bainian, vice chairman of the Patriotic Association, told UCA News, an Asian church news agency, that Fu wanted to "see his priests, whom he hasn't met for a long time" due to his long illness.

She later completed her studies at the University of Science and Technology Beijing and obtained a degree in business administration in 2006. Zhang is now working as a fashion model.

Early life

Having grown up in an academically oriented family, Zhang has always valued her education and has made many achievements in her studies. Both a scholar and an athlete, Zhang Zilin began training in various types of sports at the tender age of eight. She excels in the Triple Jump and Hurdles and has undergone professional training in the 100 meter Hurdles alongside Olympic Gold Medalist Liu Xiang.

In 2002, Zhang finished high school and commenced her studies at the University of Science and Technology Beijing where she graduated in 2006. As an undergraduate, she competed and won many athletic competitions. In 2005, she won the "Sports Advance Distinction Award" at her university.

Modelling career

Zhang's career in modeling and pageantry started in 2003 where she participated in a beauty pageant organized by New Silk Road Modeling Agency. As a first timer in pageantry, Zhang only managed to land herself in the top 10 due to lack of experience. However, she was later discovered by the executive manager of the agency, Lee Xiao Bai, who declared that Zhang had the potential to become a supermodel. Since then Zhang has graced the runways in major fashion capitals of the world including Paris and Berlin.

In 2006, she was shortlisted as one of the top ten professional supermodels during the Chinese Fashion and Culture Awards. After that she participated in Giorgio Armani's 2007 Autumn/Winter Collection show in Paris and later earned herself the title of "Top Model of the Year" from New Silk Road modeling agency.
